Just thought I'd pass along a neat thing I found yu can do with your
scouts to show them how sound travels.
Take a wire hanger and tie two pieces of string (approx 2 ft each) to it,
one on each side. Now wrap one string around (just a couple times) the first
finger of your right hand and one around the first finger of your left
hand, leaving the hanger to hand upside down in front of you. Stick your
fingers in your ears (the scouts love this) and swing the hanger so it
bangs and hits things like the side of a table or back of a chair. You
will be utterly amazed at what you hear!!! Try it!
