Swearing In Ceremony
Thu, 7 Mar 1996 08:09:31 -0500
Our troop has had this policy/ceremony for such a long time, that I
was wondering if anyone has any new/different ceremonies to update
After a scout [or leader] has taken on a new postion of responsiblity,
such as Patrol Leader, Scribe, and even Committee Member, there is a
swearing in ceremony for that scout.
The Scoutmaster or SPL, depending on the postion being sworn in, has
the scout make the Scout sign with his right hand and put his left hand
on the troop flag and flagpole, and repeat after him:
I, [state your name],
On my honor, will do my best,
To do my duty as [name position]
to promote Scouting spirit,
and support the Scouting movement,
and work for the betterment,
of my [patrol and/or troop - depending on position]
and the world Brotherhood of Scouting.
And we actually do this twice - once immediately after the election when
they receive the emblem of office, and then again at the court of honor
in front of troop and family when they receive the 8x10 certificate of
Does any other troop do a ceremony like this?
