Dear fellow Scouts/Scouters,
I have got a problem with our troop about wearing the Scout
Uniform that I want to tell you about and then see if anyone has any
We have a number of Scouts that do not like to come to Scout
meetings in their full Class A Uniform. Some don't wear it at all and
others only wear parts of the uniform. The SPL and I have tried numerous
things to get everyone to wear their uniform to the meetings. A lot of
the people are good about wearing their uniforms. We have one patrol
leader that is really bad about not wearing their uniform at all. We
tell him that he is supposed to set the example. It is just like that
same Patrol Leader never calls and tells his patrol members anything.
Everyone of his patrol members always call and ask me about it. That
makes me mad.
The thing that makes me so mad about the uniform problem is that
I am always in my uniform and others don't wear their uniform ever. The
other night, I didn't get home until 6:40. Our Scout meetings start at
7:00. In that twenty minutes, I ate my supper and put on my Scout
uniform. I was only five minutes late to the Scout meeting and that was
because I had to stop and get gas or else I wasn't going anywhere else. When
I arrived at the Scout meeting, someone asked me, "Why didn't you just
wear your Class B uniform or just come as you were?" I answered that
person saying, "I am the ASPL and I am supposed to set the example. I
only come to the scout meeting in my Class A, and nothing else."
Thanks for listening to my problem. If anyone has any
suggestions on how to deal with this problem, please let me know. You
can either post here or e-mail me privately. However, I'm sure that
there are more than one troop that has this same problem.
Thanks in advance.
Yours in Scouting,
