John and everyone, Our Pack is also considering combining our two
Webelos dens (this is the first time in 4 years we've had kids make it to
Webelos!). We have two Eagle Dads as WDL's and their two sons surviving
in one den; we have a WDL and parents helping with 6-8 guys in the
other. The first den meets weekly; the second barely can get together
once a month because the WDL travels. Our Pack is in general agreement
that the survival rate to Boy Scouts will be greater if the two dens
combine.. It will be easier on the WDL's also, since all are working 2+
jobs or traveling. The leadership can be shared.
Since the Pack Committee meets Monday, how can we encourage these busy
Dad's to get WDL training? Webelos should be doing some things
differently from the rest of the Pack, from my perspective as a Wolf DL,
to prepare them for Boy Scouts.
I have another question. We are in the unique position (for us) of
potentially having a choice for Cubmaster. Who makes the final
decision? The Pack Committee (which in our case is the DL's)? What
qualities should we look for?
Thanks for your help.
