I love this thread! I'm going to save in a Patrol-names folder & print
off to pass among the boys next time we organize a new patrol. I
wouldn't mind Ticks or Radioactive Thingama-whatevers if it would
help me boost enthusiasm for the patrol method.
Troop 45's current patrols aren't very original, we currently have the Cobra
Patrol, which used to be the Coyote patrol. I have suggested, and
the boys picked up on, the idea that they should at least consider a
name change and new flag whenever they elect a new patrol leader,
(at least once a year).
This is a tradition I carry forward from my youth, where incoming
Patrol Leaders would award old patrol flags to outgoing Patrol
Leaders in an informal meeting ceremony. As a youth, I was a
member of the Panthers, the Raccoons, the Flaming Arrows,
and lastly the Chiefs, still not very original.
