Hello All -
A slight addition to the thread about the Scout Museum in Manchester, NH.
I happened to be talking to my absolutely all-time best Scouting-friend
guru on "old Scouting stuff" and I mentioned that one of the reasons that
he needed to dust off his computer and get on the net is to help with
threads like this one.
I mentioned the location of the museum (I didn't know the name and had
forgotten which Council it was in) and he almost blew my phone-ear out:
"FANTASTIC museum, absolutely one of the best! The Lawrence L. Lee
Scouting Museum and Max Silver Scouting Library is even BETTER than the
national museum! Not only is the collection first rate, but they make all
their own showcases and the items are well-displayed. Go, Charlie,
GO...plan to stay a week!"
I hated to admit that the closest that I was going to get is Connecticut
(my Coast Guard son is getting married to a super Connecticut-Yankee young
lady this summer!). I did admit that I would have loved to stop by when I
was hiking the Appalachian Trail in '93...after a shower, of course <g>.
I have learned to completely trust my friend's Scouting-memorabilia
instincts. It sounds like the Daniel Webster Council (thanks Wendy!) has a
great museum for us to visit!
