The reason that the cost for the web page is probably high is that most
corporations hire a professional web page consultant or firm to design
the web page to meet the legal and graphic specifications needed for a
high quality, and "user-friendly" presentation. Because the BSA National
Web Page will most likely contain a great deal of information now
available only in hard-copy, the manner of graphic-design, indexing and
access pointers are critical in the design and "flow process" for the page.
There are no doubt any number of volunteer Scouters who can and do design
high quality pages, but it is necessary that the BSA National Office,
like any major corporation, have a quality product. Additionally,
because the web page must be constantly upgraded and revised in the
"changing media" of the internet, it is good to have the services of an
expert who can adapt information in a presentable and "user-friendly"
format as the need arises.
If you look at any web page for a major corporation, it has the
"earmarks" of being designed professionally, and professionals are
expensive because of their skill and expertise.
