There has been much discussion as to where is the right place to have the
Wood Badge presented. I believe there is no wrong place. In the
National Capital Area Council the selection is left up to the individual
receiving the beads. After all, he or she did the work to earn the Wood
I have had the opportunity, over the past 10 years, to participate in
many Wood Badge presentations. The location for each presentation was
selected by the individual which made it special for him or her.
Ceremony locations such as:
SMF Outdoor sessions; Opening, After lunch, Closing Campfire.
Troop COH; Opening, Closing.
District Roundtable; Opening, during the program, Closing.
District Camporee Campfire; Opening, Closing.
Council Pow-Wow; Opening, Closing.
Council Show on the Mall
Council Wood Badge dinner
Meeting of the Wood Badge Patrol in office conference room.
The point I am trying to make is that the ceremony be meaningful for the
Wood Badger. If Scouts or non-Wood Badgers are present, the ceremony can
inspire Scouts to advance and adults to participate in training
