I don't know if you can use my input, but I was a member of such a
Post - first as an Explorer and then as an Associate Advisor - from
1964 to 1968. Note that this was before Explorers went co-ed, and
when Explorers were a senior branch of Boy Scouting.
We specialized in Marksmanship and in Hunter Safety. Our Advisor was
a marksmanship instructor for the Auxillary Police Force and was NRA
Instructor certified in Marksmanship and in Hunter Safety. Most of
the members became NRA Junior Instructor certified in one or both
fields. Every fall we held a Turkey Shoot to raise funds (thirty years
ago, the city was mostly newly incorporated rural land). During the
winter months we conducted training for Scout Troops and other small
groups. In the spring and summer we conducted training and held
matches at camporees and at Council Scout Camp.
Unfortunately, this Post does not still exist. I have lost touch with
the Exploring Program since it went co-ed so I cannot tell you if
another Post with similar emphasis exists locally.
I hope this has been of some help.
