Good for you. I have had the same problem with some of the newer
parents in particular in my troop. I get calls from certain parents
asking, "Are we still meeting tonight?" or "Is the campout cancelled?"
I have bitten my tongue and politely answered their questions in the
past, but at our parent's meeting last night I made your same
point--the SPL is the one to talk to about any changes in the
schedule. If there is a change, he calls the PLs, who in turn call
their members. I have told the scouts that they should call their PLs
first if they have any questions. Then check with the SPL, and only
as a last resort call me.
I think the new parents are still in cub mode, where the DL does most
of the work and telephoning. It takes awhile for them to get out of
this way of thinking.
