For the past 4-5 yrs we have celebrated Scout Sunday on the Sunday after
Scout Sabbath... because our church (TUMC of LaGrangeville) has communion
on the first sunday of the month... so we have been asked to do Scout
Sunday the following sunday ... not a big problem because it also gives the
scouts an opportunity to be recognized in their own church on Scout Sunday.
Last year and this year we have done the entire service (planning, and
performing) ... sermon included.
Last year, for the sermon, I read Chief Seattles Speech when surrending his
land... the congregation was totally attentive, even the kids... it was a
powerful speech... I added some stuff before and after which tied it to
the 'religious' aspect of nature and us...
This year, I've been scouring the internet getting tidbits of info here
and there... been collecting sayings from all you scouters ...
I will be writing up the sermon tonight... (hopefully) ...
Anyway - we do the entire service... It is greatly appreciate by all.
