I need some advice from a person who is intimately familiar with
modem communications between PCs and Internet services using higher
speed modems (14.4).
If you can help in this area, please e-mail me at:
Please identify the list where you saw this.
Here is the basic problem:
I have a modem with voice and FAX capability that I am trying to use
at 9600 baud. The modem is rated at 14.4K.
At 9600 baud, I cannot type digests to the screen without the transmission
aborting. I also cannot effectively transfer files to my PC using "ZModem".
Files transfers using ZModem take longer at 9600 with the retries and error dete
ction that if done at 2400 baud. Interestingly,
I _can_ trasnfer a file at 9600 using Kermit. Both directions.
The local ISP "Helpless" desk has not been helpful, to the point that
my last problem report has not been acknoledged in the week since it was
I have none of these problems at 2400 baud.
