Unless it is different in other parts of the country, I believe you missed
it...it was today (Feb 4, 1996).
I don't know the full significance of it, but we do something special in our
Generally the Boy Scout Troop associated with our church will provide a color
guard. Additionally, if there are boys who have worked on their Emblem of
Faith Awards (as we did this year), the awards are presented on Scout Sunday.
Each "awardee" also participates in the worship service: ie: my son read the
prayer and blessing over the congregations " gifts to God"; another read the
prayers of the people and so on.
All Scouts and Cubs wear their uniforms to church (or temple) as do the
Scouters. Our district commissioner and I (a den leader) are both in choir
and I believe the congregation kind of got a kick out of seeing us in uniform
instead of the usual choir attire.
Hope this helps. I am sorry if you missed out, BUT who says you can't have
your own scout sunday in your own place of worship somewhat belatedly?
