Yes, the current syllabus is set up for a three weekend course, but it does
include a conversion schedule for the week-long course. Per our experience
this past year it can be confusing at times to convert to the week-long
schedule, but it does work. I'm just glad I still had my old syllabus (set
up for the weeklong course) to help at those times.
It is my understanding that the course director and the host council make the
decision on which format to use at the time they apply to hold the course.
Our council has always done week-long courses, and have no plans to change,
at least for now. As a three-time staffer, and about to start the fourth, I
can say that we have been very successful with a week-long course. Our last
three courses, held every 2nd year, have been full, and starting this year
plans are to hold a course every year.
