What I may say will probably upset some people, but I as an Eagle Scout (72)
must say something..... I see Eagle Scout as the highest award that Scouting
gives to any person, adult or boy in Scouting...yes even about the Silver
Beaver. A boy that is not active in the troop, mails in dues, MB blue cards
etc REGARDLESS of the many reasons that he or his parents have, is not
participating in Boy Scouts and it takes much more to be awarded the
priveledge of being an Eagle Scout.
Eagle Scout is different from all other ranks in Scouting. The BOR is much
different then all other ranks, I could go on and on. The bottom line is
this. That boy who wears the Badge of Eagle Scout represents all of boy
scouting. No other award that anybody will ever receive in ones life WILL
EVER COMPARE to that of being an Eagle Scout...NOTHING.
Shame on the troop that allows the boy to conduct scouting in the way that
has been told thus far. You have done him and scouting no favors at all. If I
sat his Eagle BOR and I saw that scout in front of me.......
Again this is my opinion...
