In reflecting upon Ed Henderson's comments about the America on Line
Scouting site, I would like to offer the following: First, there is
nothing inherently wrong about any of the commercial internet providers. I
began by subscribing to America on Line and have no complaints. My problem
with their Scouting site, at least for me, is accessibility. I was forced
to give up America on Line because local access was limited to 2,400 baud.
Now I am using a local provider. The problem is that, if you don't
subscribe to America on Line, Prodigy, Compuserv, etc., you can not access
their Scouting sites, whereas anyone can access any web site anywhere.
So more power to those of you using the commercial providers, but just
remember that access is limited to your fellow subscribers. If you want
the rest of us to know about it, you need to post to Scouts-L a web page or
any other universal location.
Thanks for allowing this bandwidth for a personal observation.
