I have great news about a book that all of us have wanted for years and is
now being written. Chris Jenson of the Streamwood Company in Easley South
Carolina has written some two dozen scouting books over the years, nearly all
of then dealing with BSA Collectables, Patches, OA stuff, and Memorabillia.
Well Chris has turned his efforts on writing a new book which will be a
comprehensive directory of every Boy Scout property in the United States.
Not only will be be a great tool for the Patch Collector, but now there will
be one book, available to all, when traveling to another part of the country
(where to stay), you can read about other council summer camps, it will have
directional maps, and much more. Think about those times when you had a
NOAC or Philmont contengent, or times when non BSA groups like Churchs, ROTC,
etc needed low cost accomodations, etc. BSA Professionals can use the guide
as a road map when traveling to see other camp operations and new ideas.
World Scouters can use this as a guide when traveling in the USA.
Councils & camps will be able to purchase the book at a 50% discount from the
published price, and there is no cost to any council for a listing in the
A letter has been sent to every council in the country, hopefully it will be
routed to every camp director, hopefully it will be responded to. Since, as
we all know, things *SOMETIMES* get misplaced at the Scout Service Center,
and *SOMETIMES* our good ole DE Camp Directors might misplace their letters,
I thought I would help Chris by amplifying the message here! I know of at
least 60+ Camp or Program Directors that I have met on these forums, and
there are probably many more.
This message is not to sell book, but to get the vital information to the
editor so this guide will be meaningful and helpful for all of us. When its
out I assure you that the Camp Thunder Virtual Country Store will stock it as
will any decent Camp Trading Post in the country, many scout councils, and
even groups like the American Camping Association.
To send information on your camp or to request the survey form & letter in
case you did not get it....write:

Sorry but Chris does not yet have E-Mail but I always try to talk everyone I
meet in scouting about it <<G>>. One day we will all be on the net!

My appologies to all if this is a repost. I know this message made it to
Rec.Scouting but somehow this post was diverted to Audio-L or something, I
don't think it got here.
