How do you go about making INFORMAL rank presentations. The troop I was
associated with, has the SPL get everyones attention (puts up the scout
sign), then he says"I hereby open this court of honor" and then presents
the scouts their ranks. ie. new, tenderfoot, 2nd class, merit badges
etc. Then he says I hereby close this court of honor.
Twice a year the troop holds a pot luck FORMAL court with families
present and re-presents the awards.
Is this a common way to informally present ranks. I have noticed it gets
a little weak with the boys. As cubmaster, I have used many different
ceremonies at pack meetings. I always try to add some particular meaning
or value to the presentation (we have the parents come up and actually
give the award to their cubs)
Can this be done at the boy scout level, or am I getting away from
letting the boys run the troop (my PRIME DIRECTIVE, CAPTAIN)
Now I know that there are many of you out there, so let's hear from some
of you lurkers. We all benefit from different experiences.
