I would like to thank all of the list members who took the time to
write to me about the plans of our incoming Scoutmaster. As it turns out by
the time Wednesday's meeting rolled around his plans had been adjusted.
As it stands now Troop 48 will be moving from our current headquarters
at Scout Hall (much too small) to the fellowship hall of our chartered
organization as of January 1. This will allow the Troop to continue to meet
as a whole group for opening, closing and instructional time and also allow
for the patrols to have the space needed for their individual patrol
meetings. All involved showed Scout spirit and compromised.
As for me personally, I have approached the CC and incoming Scoutmaster
about taking over as Advancement Chairman and clearing the way for others to
become more involved as ASMs. I feel that this move would allow the new SM
more latitude to make the job his own and put those who have trouble coping
with a woman ASM more at ease. This whole plan will be discussed by the
committee on January 8. I hope that this plan will work out for all involved.
Bottom line: Adults put your egos on hold and listen to your youth
members and see how they want to run their program. Again, thanks for your help.
