First Let Say Hello and to Those who monitor both Scout-L and E-Scouts
let me appoligize for posting this a second time I Inadvertantly posted
this to E-Scouts when I thoughy I posted to Scouts-L. I did not realize I
had done so Untill I Recieved one and only one Reply and for that I am
greatfull and thank you you know who you are and all I can say is it was a
slip of the mouse when addressing the post
I have not and do not monitor E-Scouts but may soon and as such had it
listed in my address book once I better understand its purpose.
Again I am Sorry.
And now for the Intro:
I am a former scout (too many years ago)this is my second year in scouting
(his time around) last year all Cub Scouts 1 Boy a Tiger, 1 Boy Starting
into Scouting as 2nd Year WEBLOS. I was there and did some committee etc.
This year assistant Cub Master, Tiger Coach, and Scout Master after Scout
Master for local troop Became Ill and Resigned for Health Reasons. (After
Arriving at Camp for Sons First Campout as Scout I was to be just an Adult
along to help, he was supposed to meet us there but went to the emergency
room instead), Talk about your fast start programs, I Was It By Default.
Anyway this is a small group, and extremely lax, informal and unplanned
.... after about 90 days finally have better part of an annual plan, good
committee but still no Purpose. and little committment from boys. They have
no plans, no goals, not one will tell me why they joined or what they
expect get from Scouting.
When trying to plan activities always get the BEEN THERE and DONE THAT comments
Any suggestions would be welcomed.
Now for Camp Info:
Am trying to plan for summer camp and all I get is a groan when the subject
of attending our Council's camp Loud Thunder. It is a very nice facility,
but I get the been there and done that response and total lack of interest
when ever the subject comes up.
I understand too because they (we have been there alot even for Cub Scout
and Webelos activities.
What I am looking for is information on Camp programs in reasonable
proximity to North Central Illinois.
I believe there is a camp in the Rockford area and one in the Springfield
area. Any Information on these and any other reasonably close camps and
contacts for these places would be truly appreciated.
What would be ideal is a webpage that would act as a central index, anybody
know of one, that would be a big help in narrowing our search. I could go
online at the next patrol leaders conference and narrow the list before we
start bothering people for videos and literature etc.
I have looked around and not found anything like this.
Any assistance would be highly appreciated, I think a change of pace would
help me get these guys jump started.
Have a Good Day
