Well...I got my wish sorta.
I'm NO LONGER with the folks at CLR...the dispute was over whether or not I
would be able to be with my family (and Jessica's family) over the
Thanksgiving weekend. I said "I will" and they said "okay, but you'll come
back to no job". So, favoring family over the "easy buck" (and folks, it
*was* an easy buck, nothing happens overnight with only 30 subscribers!), I
I've been spending the entire Sunday evening using our "backup" site (just
in case something like this...or worse!) happened, and thanks to my honies,
I was able to connect to, use and finally re-sub to Scouts-L and E-Scouts
last night/this morning. Because when I left, they quickly ERASED
everything that I had in storage at their site, if you sent personal mail to
me between Wednesday, November 25 and today, Monday, November 27th, I am
asking that you please resend it to this new address. It's easier to
remember and it's a local phone call:
(yes, Jeanie, I WILL BE KEEPING THIS ONE no matter what!! *heheheheehee*)
If Nathan's here, please change my sub on Arrow-L from the old net address
to the one above, and please send me the listserv address for APO-L.
Likewise, if there's anyone here from Patch-L, please send me the
listowner's address so that I can make quick arrangements to resub there as
The dispute was a breach of contract between their firm and me. They
incorrectly assumed that for $10 an hour, that I would be willing to forego
just about anything: seven-day-a-week work weeks, no days off for "comp
time", and one day off for each holiday. In defense of their operation,
they only hired four people, two of which had any kind of Internet
experience, and they needed me around to answer the questions that the "slow
folks" couldn't answer. I valued the "free time" in which I was able to
complete two personal projects that they allowed me to complete, as well as
time to answer all of my mail; but that was not the issue.
Two very important lessons I've learned from this experience: one, not only
insure that you have a contract on paper, but also insure that you and the
firm agree on ALL of it's terms; and two, my mother and my faith brought me
up right....family and pride are more important than money anyday. My
children were glad to have seen me after a brief absence, especially my
youngest child that have had severe behavior problems.
My wife was finally able to rest peacefully after being literally "locked
up" into her home during the evening and overnight hours.
I will be able to (and am spending the day today and the next three)
applying for and looking for fulltime work. While it won't perhaps come
close to the "big bucks" I was making there sitting, at least I know for
whom I work for, what exactly is expected and how my skills, knowledge and
resources will be used within their firm.
In advance, I apologize to those that attempted to reach me after 7:22am on
Wednesday, and if you have a lead (or want a copy of my resume!), please
send me personal mail and let me know.
I will be sending my files to a new Web site shortly...I lost all of my
files when they "zapped" the account
(without asking me if I wanted the files...shows you the "level" of their
experience!) and will have to recreate several of the pages that I had
posted. It will take me about a week or so to get it done, so please be
patient with me as I try to get it all "back together again".
Settummanque!@HEY! YES! I'm in a better mood...thanks for those whom prayed
for a resolution!
