Paul, and All,
In this group even staying warm can become controversial!
To my way of thinking this group provides a panel of generally highly
educated, mostly eloquent and highly experienced Scouters to aid and
guide others while adding again to their own experience.
I believe we are at our best when we discuss specific problems or
challenges in Scouting and arrive at a number of possible solutions.
The reason for not getting into "controversial" areas is simple.
We have a posting limit in the group which is hit virtually every day.
The "controversial" issues very often can not be brought to any form of
closure and simply continue wasting space and time. Do many of you
really care how I feel about gays, girls or G-d?. The ADD/HDD
discussion was an important discussion as it is a problem most all of us
have or will have at some time. It aided me in just simply understanding
a bit better why some of my boys do certain things and how to react
better to them. And there is always rec.scouting on Usenet. You can
post all you want there, discuss anything you want and say pretty much
anything you want. If you want to get into the trenches that is where
you want to be.
Let's all keep Scouts-L sane, civil and above all caring.
Regards to All, Jess
