This summer many troops in our council were less than satisfied with our
summer camp program at our council camp. The blame for the poor camp could
fall on just about any body but that is not what I am looking for right now.
What my objective would be is to assist in making sure it does not happen
again. A few more poor years like the past, will close down this camp. It is
already been talked about. The comments to me from the Council Exec when I
talked to him about the problems, he stated that one thing that would improve
the situation would to be have a stronger Camping Committee. I can t say that
I disagree. Not that they are to blame for what happened but they could have
been a guiding force to make sure some of the things did happen that didn't.
So now I will cut to the chase and ask the questions.
What does your camping committee do? What are its responsibilities? What
is the subcommittee structure for the Council Camping Committee and the
District Camping Committee? What do you expect from your camping committees?
Our District nominating committee is looking for a new Camping
Chairperson right now and I have been in close contact with them with my
concerns as they look for a replacement. As you think of what a dream camping
chair would be, what would be some of his/her qualifications for this
position? OK I have asked enough questions, now I am looking for answers.
If you have any comments feel free to E-Mail me direct if you wish. Thanks in
advance for you help in this issue
