I thought what I had to say might help someone else out there, so I posted to
the whole list.
In our pack our dues are pretty much the same. $33.00 w/o Boy's Life
with Boy's Life
Our Pack breaks it down the following way: 13.00 for rechartering
10.00 to the
10.00 to the
Boys Life subscription
Last year this wonderful formula did not work because our pack was in the
red. But we worked our liitle collective butts off in fundrasing. So, this
year the formula worked.
How did I survive last year?
(1) I asked each boy in my den to bring their own supplies box each week. In
it I asked for the following items:
coloring pencils or markers
I also asked my parents to go through the kids crayons at home and instead of
throwing out the broken ones, to bring them to me. Thus I started a crayon
box. Broken ones write just as well as whole ones.
(2) I always tried to plan my meetings two weeks in advance. If there were
other supplies I needed I would write a letter to the parents and boys
telling them what was needed for the next meeting. (Ex. Say on 11/10 I knew
I needed green felt for the 11/17 mtg. I would send home a note on 11/10
asking the parents for green felt for 11/17)
I'm not heavy into crafts myself, but I have started projects and then put
them aside This has started a craft box. Alot of people have them at home.
My parents usually respond well. especially if its something they might
have around the house
>From just asking I now have a Cub Scout craft box. It has hundreds of
things Pop sticks, sequens, gillter, pipe cleaners, safety pins, straws
etc.. I'm sure you get the idea..
Well now that I've added my two cents, I hope everything works out ok. Good
