I thought that this was the purpose of the Round Tables.
The Council I am in is large enough to have 4 districts. Two of the
districts are close enough that the monthly Round Tables have two parts.
The first part is by District for announcements and Dsitrict business. The
second part is by level - Cubs in one room, Boys in another [BTW my wife is
a Cub RT Commisioner]. I can't speak extensively for the Cubs, but their
program is a real hands on training for the theme for the following month
(November 14 meeting, on December theme) with a thick handout to take home.
For the Boy Scout leaders, the topics are set at the beginning of the
year. Last month we had two OPIK instructors talk about camping in the
extreme cold. We have also had programs on menus with dried foods, summer
camps/high advanture camps, etc. (some of the same topics covered here).
The District meeting is usually about 1/2 hour, with a short break and
45minutes to 1 hour for the rest.
These are held monthly September - June with a kickoff in August.
