Unfortunately, it was the custom in my most recent former Scouting home for
a demand ("A Scout is reverent, (please remove your hats.)) to be issued
before meals at camp and any council/lodge events at mealtimes. Although
"please" was used, to me, it was quite clear that if anyone failed to remove
their hat there would be a "situation".
What a shame.
Fortunately, IMO, they acted out of ignorance toward other traditions rather
than intolerance of them.
