What we do in our Boy Scout Troop is to have a party to get together with
the families. The troop provides the
pizza and soda, the families bring a covered dish. Instead of a gift
exchange, we have the people bring in non-
perishable food for the local food bank, or to bring in a wrapped gift for a
young child in need in the local area.
We have done this for the past couple of years.
This past weekend during the Scouting for Food, I talked with some of the
cub scout leaders and told them
what we do, and they liked the idea. They will bring it up at their leaders
meeting this week.
It was a decision of the Boys in the troop to have a party and bring in
food/gift for others.
