DE in Uniform

I appreciate and can sense your dedication to the Scouting program, but you
are wrong about the "administrative only - no need to worry about the
uniform..." in your reply concerning a DE who did not wear the correct
uniform at a camporee.
Of course, you are right about the volunteers running the program. In a
perfect world, the DE would be like a good referee - never noticed. In
reality, of course, we all keep an eye on our professionals - seeking
reassurance, support, and confirmation that our standards are in keeping
Give yourself more credit for your impact on your volunteers, and wear your
uniform always. Make it perfect (even turn your square knots so that they
are facing the right direction). There may be better clothes for outdoors
activities, but "suffer" a little and show your Scouts, your volunteers,
and your peers that you are really proud of Scouting. Any other "short
cut" makes us wonder.
