One final(?) note on the quality unit requirements relating to youth
protection. After finding the new Quality Unit requirments found on the
1996 form differred from the March 1995 Scouting magazine article on
youth protection training, our Council called the Council Services office
in Dallas to find which was correct. The Council Services Office says the
requirements are as found on the 1996 form. This means the an asistant
leader must be assigned responsibility for youth protection training in
the unit. They are not, however, required to have actuially taken the
course in order for the unit to qualify for the quality unit.
But, the training is important, and I think it behooves all of us to keep
up to date whether or not it's a requirement for the award.
