I'd like to ask a question for the list to comment on/answer.
How does one go about starting a special needs Cub Scout Pack? I've
been told that "a long time ago" my Pack had a special needs Pack
affiliated with it, but presently this affiliation is not active.
I've also been told a special needs Pack must be affiliated with an
existing Pack. We have several Cubs with ADD who are doing just fine
in the "mainstream" but I never see any boys at Roundups who are faced
with other physical/emotional challenges.
The need was driven home to me in the Spring of 1995 when I found out
(after the fact) that one of our Tigers had some extreme emotional
challenges and was not doing well. His mom ended up pulling him out
of the program.
Any information or tips on starting such a unit, activities, training,
etc., would be greatly appreciated.
