I'm a Scoutmaster in the Atlanta Area Council. The pocket flap is a
"Mountain Man" patch that's given to first year campers at Woodruff Scout
Reservation who complete the MM course. The course is 2 hours per day
for the week and covers a lot of the requirements for TF, 2nd, & 1st
I know that they are not OA pocket flaps. I'm only the messenger.
Let me say that the AAC is one of the leaders in the nation with Scouting
in the inner city and working with minorities. Operation 1st class was
developed in the AAC and is now a national program (Commissioner College
is also an AAC development). These kids are being given an alternative
to gangs and are responding. Something new to watch in the future. The
AAC has started a program called SCAT (Special Commissioner Assistance
Team) and is doing great work with the inner city units. This may be
seen soon in other large cities.
This was not meant as a scolding, far from it. Just an opportunity to
let you know what we'all are doing in the Atlanta Area.
Best wishes to all. I enjoy all the knowledge I get from y'all on Scouts-L.
Yours in Scouting,
