I would like to thank everyone who responded to my original post on this
subject. Many good ideas.
Our meeting with the PTA board went as many of you warned me it might.
Several members seemed to have their mind made up before we got started but
there were many more undecided. It seems to come down to our leader
registration form. The PTA does not want to sign off as approving our
leaders. Our counsel says the PTA is covered under the insurance (as does
everything I have read) but their lawyer seems to think insurance is
Two questions - The PTA does not want to approve our leaders and will not
sign a statement to screen and select them. I believe the registration form
asks questions about drugs, abuse and criminal records. The charter
organization is to sign off as the information being true "to the best of my
knowledge." Can we get around this?
Someone mentioned a pack that formed a "Coalition of Concerned Parents"
organization to charter the pack. I would really like to get more info on
