While I agree with most of your post re sharing of information, this
particular comment bothers me. The MAIN purpose of the roundtable is
training and the exchange of IDEAS between unit leaders. IMHO a small
portion of the RT should be devoted to announcements about upcoming events
etc. (Usually an "executive minute" is adequate, give them more then that
and they think they run the program).
The place where planning for upcoming council or district events should take
place is the district committee meeting or at various special committees set
up for the purpose of planning and running those events. Unit leaders
valuable time should not be spent listening to a bunch of district or council
scouters hash out the details of these events. They should be selected to
serve on these committees, but the roundtable should not become a committee
of the whole to run district events.
