Please note: my sources said that boonie hat was put out by the world
organization just in time for that one world jamboree. Kind of like the
shorts and socks changing just before our last jambo. Whether the idea was to
get everone to buy something new r not, I don't know. The only place I saw
the Boonies was at Philmont and they disappeared about 1993.
So far as I know, nothing new was released before this world jambo, but that
may be a gift to all of us as they dispose of whatever they got.
Canada used the boonie style for years, then held a jamboree and Tilly set up
a booth outside the jamboree area with specially died hats. At $40.00 a pop
they sold out - the guys who lived and died by those with teh little red
trefoil on the front jumped at a decent hat to wear.
Perhaps its time to take this to National Supply's doorstep? Thats what
national staff said to dso when we complained about the uniform at Philmont
Training Center last summer.
