Just joined your group a few days ago and just wanted to take a few
minutes and introduce myself. My name is Frank Lawing and I am presently
the Cubmaster of Pack One and an Assistant Scoutmaster in Troop 66 here at
Fort Leavenworth, Kansas. Both units are part of the Heart of America
Council. I am also on our District (KAW) Training Team and an active
member in Tamegonit Lodge #147, Order of the Arrow. My wife Linda (Pack
Treasurer and Brownie Troop Leader) and I live here on post at Fort
Leavenworth and have four children: Jeannie 13, Jason 11(working hard on 2d
Class), Jena 7 (Brownie), and Jeff 2.
Pack One has 330 Cubs this year and is still growing. We normally
average between 220 and 250 Cubs each year. Troop 66 is one of two Troops
(used to have six) and has 60 to 70 Scouts registered in each Troop. The
military is still a very strong supporter of Scouting!
I am a Tarheel by birth (Wilson, Raleigh, and of course Fort Bragg X 3)
and an alumni of Auburn University, WAREAGLE! I was a scout as a boy and
got back into scouts when Jason was old enough and boy am I glad to be back!
I am still on Active Duty in the Army and a proud Redleg, Field
Took the whole family to Philmont this past summer for the Quality Pack
Program. It was the best family vacation we have ever taken. Highly
recommend it to everyone. The people you meet are the best part. It is
great to meet fellow Scouters from all over the country and exchange
information and experiences.
Thanks a million for your time and I hope to meet or talk to as many of
you as I can in the near future. Still stumbling down the information
highway but, Doing My Best!
