Thats great. But, let me remind you about the correct terminology:
When a webelos den gets a name instead of a number, they are still a den and
patrol. (For what its worth; I won't call you "patrol leader")

First, just to make matters formally correct: Division into den's is done by
the pack; not
by the boys.
More important, as you said: I believe you are doing this boy a dis-service.
grader webelos den will probaly be dissolved in spring when those boys join boy
scouts. The lonely 4th grader will have to join the other den. He will not
to find a new den mid year, but they might have worked on a different set of

Now I'm getting confused. Maybe you have only one mixed den? Given you
have 9 boys this makes sense. But why two den names if it is one den?

I agree. But I think you should not express misgivings. You should either
