Over the years I've been to a lot of camporees where there are
scouting organizations from all over the place. It is really
interesting to see the range of equipment and setups. Some troops are
really into low impact camping and limits themselves to what the
scouts can pack in on their backs. Others show up with a variety of
trailers, trucks, and delivery vans. Some of them verge on being
portable motels. I'm not sure if its the boys or the dads who want
all the comforts of home. Others are into developing the skills that
come with a minimalist camping style.
Anyway, I'm looking for your ideas and approaches to how you set up
for camping as far as the amount of gear you take, how you get it
there and what you think about the various approaches on what to take.
Personally I prefer to minimize the amount of equipment and vehicles
needed. My personal opinion is that if you need a truck or trailer,
you are taking too much. What are your approaches.
