Some of you have probably been holding your breath that I would let this
I believe that FOS is needed to a certain extent. However, for some of
the very reasons that United Way funds are decreasing BSA and local
councils need to follow suit. And I mean "down-sizing". Also when are we
here in the U.S. going to stop treating our heads of philanthropic
organizations like CEO's with the high salories and perks to boot.
Some specific examples of down-sizing in my own council that could be
accomplished. The council has a Print-shop (photocopy service) that has
1.5 employees. The cost to u s to use this service out of our activity
budgets is 10-15 cents/page and the turn around time is two weeks. Need I
say more, Outside is cheaper and turnaround well! The aspect of how many
DE's and supervisors you would need if the fund-raising time was
removedis always a valid question as well. The volunteers and donaters
need to always asked hard questions of this and any similar organization.
Are we getting the max for our donated money or can we do better.
