Excellent points all. Perhaps you forgot one more: Many times a reply
can better be made by private email rather than a post to the list.
e.g. many msgs that basically are 'me too...' kinds of replies. This
doesn't apply to an on-going discussion (like the current one on 2-deep
leadership) where new points are being made.
Also, I disagree about multiple postings. I do not get digest form of
the list, I prefer the single msg form. I scan the subject headers and
delete-without-reading those subjects I know I am not interested in. If
a person has multiple subjects in their msg and only (the wrong) one on
their subject line, I may never read their msg, having discarded it by
the subject line. Also, some people use 'folders' or pre-sorting
filters on their mail that rely on accurate subject lines. And later
searching the archives (old msgs) of scouts-l for some subject is also
much easier if clear, accurate subject lines are used.
