Leak, leak --- I think that tent companies make tents out
of ripstop nylon because it is "light" and easy to pack. And
they don't live where there are THUNDERSTORMS and 2 inches of
rain in 1 hour or less...
The troop that I used to be with finally gave up on tents period....
We went down to Sams / Walmart and started buying 16 x 20 orange
vynal/plastic tarps... One on the ground and one over the boys
in a patrol... All you need is two trees or some poles to make
an A-Frame. You can use 2 smaller tarps for the ends Usually you
can fit a whole patrol in one. Behavior is actually better that
individuals or pairs in tents...
We usually carry 16 x 20, 12 x 16, and 9 x 12 size tarps plus poles,
ridge poles and extensions (incase no trees) and ridge ropes..
Yea, it doesn't backpack too well, but we tend to stay dry... Plus
the repair kit is a roll of duct tape........
Just my .02 .... Tents have a place, but Steve is right rip stop for a
floor is a joke...
