When I pitch my tent, I put a piece of #10 black plastic between the tent and
the ground. I do this to protect the underside of the tent from pine needles,
etc. Inside the tent, I put a space blanket on the floor under my sleeping pad
and sleeping bag. I do this to protect the floor from miscellaneous "things"
which might accidentally damage it.
My tent is my home, my dome sweet dome, my dome away from home, and I
want to maintain its water tight integrity.
