Inquiry has been made about "polar bear awards...."
In Western Alaska Council there is (or was? been a while since I was there)
a 20-below award sponsored by Nanuk Lodge, which I started for my troop in
the central Idaho Salmon River Mts.: camp out to an aggregate of 20 degrees
below zero in one winter, and you get the award. Every degree below zero
counts; if ten below one night, there's half way....
Our Troop award is an igloo patch with Troop 246 across the top and twenty
