We had one of these a couple of years back. Father came on every camping
trip. Both parents signed up as merit badge counselors, and proceeded to
counselor their son for them. We (the committee) talked to the mother
about the merit badge counseling, suggesting that her son might grow a
little more if he had to call a relative stranger to make an appointment
for MB counseling. She didn't see it; said she was probably harder with
the requirements than someone else would be.
Son did a so-so project and became an Eagle. Moved shortly thereafter.
Wish I had a success story to share, but some adults will be over
protective, no matter what.
