About holding the boy upside down while pinning on the Bobcat badge.....
Pack 44 used to do this until the council advised them to stop. The council
felt that is was hazing. Frankly, I'm glad that this was stopped before my boys
Most of the boys involved are 2nd graders. Every now and then you'll find one
that is truely frightened by being upside down and is sometimes shamed by it to
the point of tears. That's not what the program is about and by itself is a
good enough reason to stop.
IMHO an equally important reason to stop the practice is the possibility of
accidently dropping a boy. Sure, the risk is small but it is still there and it
is NOT NECESSARY! There are other ways to get the point across.
That's my 2 worth.
