We just had a new Comm. Member move in from Pennsylvania who contributed the
best idea for a fund raiser I've heard of yet. His old troop did it last
summer and made > $2600 with only 5 Scouts working for a full day on Sat.
His secret: Apparently, local Wal-Marts will double Scout fundraisers as long
as equal number of their employees as Scouts participate. IOW, if 15 Scouts
work, 15 WM employees must be solicited and agree to work. It also must take
place on WM property and be a valuable service to the community.
His group sold BBQ chicken sandwiches outside the WM one Sat. afternoon, along
with cokes, chips, etc. AAMOF, a lot of the supplies were even donated by
Sam's Club -- how's that for convenient.
The sale made $1300 and WM gladly presented them with a matched check of $1300.
He is busy checking with our local WM to make sure it's store-wide policy, and
we plan on doing it soon.
You can only sale so much popcorn...
