When I used to do more sailing than camping I remember reading that
dipping eggs in a water glass solution or any other solution that
prevented the slow oxidation that happens because the egg shell is
slightly porus will extend the shelf life of fresh eggs. Also helps to
keep them as cool as possible. I hadn't heard months or years, but they
will certainly keep for at least a month.
