I would recommend joining the existing Troop for several reasons.
1. A Troop with 26 members probably has 17 - 20 active. Your scouts
would infuse the Troop with new life.
2. If your scouts remain together as a new scout patrol, they will get a
fast start into Boy Scouts and can challenge the old patrols. (I have
three months of new patrol program that provides a guide for fast start,
If you would like a copy let me know)
3. To start a new Troop you are looking at a minimum investment of $6000
for basic equipment. Plus 6 scouts is only one patrol. The patrol
method works best when several patrols camp and meet together.
This will give you something to think about. No matter what you decide,
I would put these scouts in a new scout patrol.
