He doesn't know what to think, yet, but he's leaning towards getting out
of scouting altogether. He sees a lot of work in getting integrated into
another troop, making friends, etc.

Of course. Thats the "hook" we use to accomplish the aims of scouting.
What 11-13 year old would join something that promised him physical
fitness, character building, and citizenship? Very few. We promise fun
in the outdoors. We deliver that, and more.

We shall see. You may be right. I'll learn more at a parents meeting
