My 16 year old daughter and her mom returned from a reorganizational meeting of
her troop and were informed that Laura would not be able to complete her Gold
Award until her Senior Year in High School! Her leader said she had it in
writing and that the justification was that either the local or national council
felt it wiser for a girl to complete her gold award in her Senior Year because
she would be more mature! We were also told that this policy was also stated in
her badge book. We looked but there were no references to completing her Gold
Award in her Senior Year. My daughter's leader is staunch in her position that
this is ssbible fact!
Is there any Girl Scout Leaders out there who can give me chapter and verse on
any "Time Requirements" for completing the Gold Award, like during a Scouts
Senior Year in High School?
I'm sorry to say that if this is a national or council policy that is locked
stepped in Jack Boots, my daughter will not be receiving her Gold Award. Please
note that my son is an Eagle Scout and my oldest daughter has her Gold Award.
