Good News for Mike and Jessica (I guess)!

Well...like the military axiom states, "If you stay around some place
longer than four years, then you're going to retire there!"
It's time for the Walton family to continue their "eventual" trek
toward the Corn, Bean and ADM State (that's the great state of Iowa,
for those not familiar with what the various US states produce). We
will be moving to the northern part of the Shawnee Trails Council,
around the Henderson, Kentucky area (one and a half hours north of
where we all now) in THREE WEEKS in order for me to accept a position
with an Internet services provider based in Evansville, Indiana
(across the river).
As those that have been following the discussion on this list in the
past, normally when Mike and Jessi move, there's a influx of "stuff
from the mounds o' paper" that I manage to find (and keep Jessi from
tossing into the large plastic bags!) and share with all of you. This
will continue, and possibly be increased as the time goes onward and
the time for us to finally unplug our computers and disconnect our
three telephone lines, packing them into the cars and moving up the
This is a new and great opportunity for me personally, because I am
being asked not only to head up a new operation, but also to go out
and give seminars and talks on how to use this new technology with
businesses and industries. Jessi was crying last night as she wrote
her resignation letter from a job that she truly LOVE, one in which
she has been the main source of family income through, for almost two
years. She will stay here in town for two more weeks after our
relocation, and will be staying with friends as she trains her
replacement at the Operations Center at her bank.
Of course, Blackeagle Services, the firm that we started two years
back, will continue to exist and we are finding a competent person or
company in town to hand-off our clientbase to. It will be hard to do
this, but we realistically cannot continue to support those folks from
three hours in some cases away. We are still working on several
Scouting-related projects, and we still will provide "Leaders'
Online", perhaps faster now that we now have the connectivity that was
Finally, we ask for your prayers and for your understanding, as we say
goodbye to a community that has been extremely good to the two of us.
We've only had a few "I'll Fly Away" episodes (I'll Fly Away is a
PBS/NBC program airing a few years back which explored racial
relations between a southern town and both its black and white
citizens during the late 50s and early 60s. As most of you know,
Jessiann and I are an interracial couple and there were some concerns
about that factor playing a role in our living and social settings
here in the "Capitol of the Kentucky Confederacy") and the communities
of Greenwood and Bristow have been great! We've made many friends
here that we are going to miss offly bad, but at the same time, I feel
that this is a great jump forward for me professionally as well as
If I don't immediately reply to you, its only because we're still
working on both packing the home up as well as our other work.
YES, I'll still hold my account here at WKU....I have it through
December of 1996, so it's not like I'm going away or something! John
Gross, we're moving toward Iowa City...slowly....as we promised.
I'll provide our new Internet account and snail-mail addresses and
welcome you to our "open house" as soon as Jessi and I find a "open
house", move in, and arrange everything so that we can "accept company
anytime, for any lenght of time" as we've offered in the past.
For those traveling, Evansville is off of Interstate 64 between
Louisville, Kentucky and St.Louis, Missouri. Henderson is 6 miles to
the south of Evansville and is near the junction of the Audobon and
Pennyrile Parkways, both tollroads in the state.
Settummanque!@NOW, to tell the folks at Lowe's...it's going to go over
REALLY, REALLY well....
